Harbhajan Maan, born to S. Harenek Maan and S. Dalip Kaur on 30th December 1965 in a village known as Khemuana (Punjab) is a famous singer of Punjab who has captured a large number of audiences in foreign countries as well. He was a child when his mother passed away and was called by his eldest sister to Canada. In 1980 when he was only 12 years old, he shifted to Canada with his brothers and sisters.
During his school days he used to sing for his own interest as an amateur. He also used to perform in the local shows for the community of south Asia. His music Guru S.Karnail Singh Paras Ramuwalia bestowed him with the valuable knowledge of music and he became a superstar. His first album “Chithiye ne Chithiye” was released in Canada and Harbhajan Maan’s singing touched the heart chords of Punjabi people living in Canada and India. Afterwards, Harbhan Maan came back to his native land as he realized that craze for Punjabi music is much dispersed in India and then he released many albums to delight the audience of Punjabi music.
Typical Punjabi and tuneful voice of Harbhajan Maan reached the public ears with the support of T-series and MTV India and then Maan’s album “Oye Hoye” was liked by the people throughout the world. In the year 2000, he sung melodies for a Bollywood movie Papa the Great and in the year 2002 he became an actor with the supporting pushes of Manmohan Singh and smashed the Punjabi cinema with his movie “Jee aayan nu”. This movie brought the Punjabi cinema into the lime light and aroused the interest among audience for Punjabi movies.
Harbhajan Maan worked in many movies- asa nu maan watna da, dil apna Punjabi, jag jeondiyan de mele, heer ranjha and several others. His upcoming movies shareek and hanni will be released in the year 2013 only.Maan is married to Harmandeep Mann, granddaughter of Karnail Paras Ramuwalia, Harbhajan’s first guru. God has blessed him with 3 children (Avkash, Sahar and Meher). Now he is living in Mohali and spend all his free time with his family and friends. He is very much fascinated by the culture of Punjab and colossally loves Punjabi language and motivates the young generation to speak, learn and love Punjabi language.
